The frustration of standing in long queues in the hospital. 😐
In this blog, I will be discussing the lack of discipline that has caused a lot of inconvenience to the patients at the government hospitals. There should be a proper system where patients can be treated without having to wait in the queue for their turn, and waste their time. This will help improve the experience of being treated for the patients and would reduce the hassle for the staff to control the patients.
I could not visit the hospital for this blog specifically, but I have already experienced the suffering of standing in the line, going through the whole cumbersome procedures of waiting firstly for the slip, then waiting outside the doctor’s room, the process is not limited to this, but also the labs and the test results department.
Talking to two patients Ayesha and Faisal, I realized that the government does provide them with low-cost health care, but at the cost of money and stress. Ayesha was a stroke patient, but the doctor needed more evidence of the disease, therefore he asked her to go for some blood tests, and an MRI. She says that she has to suffer going through the whole process as they can not afford the fees of a private hospital. But we all know how great our private hospitals are as well!
Faisal had been visiting the hospital at least for at least 3–4 days, he has to come at 8 am, as he says that I have been standing in the line, and I wish to be treated early. He had tuberculosis, but obviously, he still had to go through the whole frustrating procedure. They did have relatives with them, which made their lives easier.
I have seen how even the hospital staff gets aggressive while trying to discipline the people. A hospital should not be a place to be treated like a war. People need a more organized system, which not only saves their time but also does not make you think that it would better if I just die at home, instead of going to the hospital!
Government hospitals need to improve the ways of treating the patients. The advancement of medicine and science is not enough to treat, we need management and order for a better experience of the patients as well as the staff at the hospital. Even the doctors get frustrated by looking at the number of patients waiting for their turn.
We need an Intelligence Patient Queue management system. It can work for the patients as an application that manages to create appointments with doctors, and therefore your visit to the hospital is not all in vain. The solution would not be to increase the human resource on dealing with patients or increasing the number of counters but to go digital and especially in these times of pandemic.
I learned how much I cared about a problem, and how I have been able to connect with it and feel the pain of the patients who are in a miserable condition. I hope that this problem does get solved, and it would mark a whole new beginning for the government hospitals. 😉
